Dystonia

My dystonia causes involuntary muscle contractions, and what it looks like is repetitive twisting movements begin with my right leg and end with my torso and neck turned all the way, leaving my body stiff. Although I never know when my dystonia comes and goes, it always shows in two situations:

  1. Position change: when I’m taken out of my chair.

  2. Mood change: When I’m feeling excited or frustrated.

How To Help

  1. Pick me up from my seat and reposition my hip.

2. Give me some floor time by putting me on an activity mat for a little while.

3. Guide me to my happy place.

My emotion can exacerbate my dystonia. So, you can help me by calming my body and emotion using the resources from My Happy Place.
